The centre received proposals for a total funding of PKR 4.8 Million. With these awards, it has committed to fund a total of PKR 3.6 Million for the projects. The current cycle of funding has been made possible by a grant awarded to LUMS by Nestle Pakistan. The Office of Sponsored Programmes and Research (OSPR) will administer these grants on behalf of WIT.
The awardees have also been appointed as Faculty Associates of the centre for the academic year 2016-17. The seed grants are meant to fund exploratory ideas over a relatively short duration (8 months) during which the center will actively work with the awardees to scale up the ideas to full-scale projects.
The centre director, Dr. Abubakr Muhammad has thanked the university leadership for their continued support to the centre. He hopes that this be an important step towards strengthening academic programmes in all schools. He also acknowledged the support of OSPR and the efforts of the WIT core team in reaching this landmark for the centre.
