Dr. Aeysha Khalique is Associate Professor in Department of Physics at the LUMS Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering. Before joining LUMS in 2024, Dr. Aeysha served in National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, as a faculty member from 2008 to 2024. She did her PhD in 2008 in quantum information from Department of Physics, Technische Universitat Darmstadt, Germany and her masters and undergrad in Physics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Dr. Aeysha is a theoretical physicist working in quantum information and quantum computation. In quantum information, her primary focus is on quantum communication including practical quantum key distribution, quantum networking and quantum internet, in both the discrete and continuous variables. Her work also involves modeling of various quantum communication setups. In addition, she is also pursuing her research in quantum walks and quantum optics. In quantum computation, her work involves linear optical quantum computing and solving optimization problems.
Dr. Aeysha has strong international and national linkages and collaborations, facilitating the diversity in her research. She has been organizer of many national conferences and has served in the program committees of international conferences, including AQIS’23, INSC’23, ISPAD’23, PICQIC’21, and QCMC’18. She is an associate of National Center for Physics, Pakistan, working as the convenor of the working group on quantum information and computation. She is also associated with global non-profit organizations QWorld and Womanium-Quantum, which are dedicated to promoting quantum technologies and software.
