Centre for Water Informatics and Technology organised a seminar on “Water Futures and Integrated solutions for Water, Energy and Land”

LUMS Centre for Water Informatics and Technology (WIT) organised a seminar titled “Water Futures and Integrated solutions for Water, Energy and Land”, with Dr. Simon Langan as the Key Speaker. 

Dr. Simon Langan has extensive experience in international research for development with over 20 years’ experience as a senior/principal researcher as well as a strong management background. He currently leads the Water Programme at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Vienna, Austria. Previously he has experience in Africa and Europe. 

Simon holds a doctoral degree in land use and water quality from the University of St. Andrews, UK. His PhD was followed by a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in Imperial College, London, UK. His subsequent project and organisational experience has been with various international organisations and centred on a multi/interdisciplinary approach. 

Simon has an extensive number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as experience in policy-related analyses, including over 120 papers, technical reports, books/chapters and conference proceedings.

His experience in Europe and Africa and more recently at the global scale have generated information to increase knowledge and provide the evidence base to inform policy and practice. An essential element of this is to increase both individual and organisational capacity. Throughout his career, he has won grants and secured funding from regional and international donor projects, including the Seventh EU Framework Programme, Natural Environment Research Council, National Power, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, USAID, and the Canadian Government.
