Dr. Abubakr Muhammad Highlights WIT's Innovative Initiatives at International Workshop
Dr. Abubakr Muhammad, Executive Director, Centre for Water Informatics and Technology (WIT), participated in the "Workshop on Communication in Extreme Environments for Science and Sustainable Development." The event, organised by The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy, served as a platform for global experts to exchange insights and innovations.
Dr. Abubakr's presentation, titled "Building Hydrometeorological Networks for Irrigation Scheduling, Snowpack Monitoring, and Flood Early Warning: Experiences from Pakistan," garnered attention for its in-depth exploration of sensor networks' pivotal role in agriculture, disaster resilience, and snowpack monitoring. The engaging discussion extended to WIT's challenges in establishing Internet of Things (IoT) networks in extreme conditions, unveiling future scaling plans, and outlining the broader impact on policy, capacity building, and climate change resilience.
The workshop, conducted from November 20 - 24, 2023, provided a rich tapestry of collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange among experts from around the world. The Centre remains steadfast in its dedication to driving advancements in water management, addressing global challenges, and fostering resilience in the face of climate change.
