Dr. Fozia Parveen, Fellow and Faculty at WIT, participated in Women of the World (WOW) Festival which was held in Karachi from December 14-15. Dr. Fozia was a part of the curatorial body that organised the festival this year. Launched by Jude Kelly on the centenary of International Women’s Day, WOW is a global movement to celebrate women and girls, and looks at the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their full potential.

WOW Karachi also celebrates women and girls locally and globally, and brings them together from all walks of life to foster a sense of community and collaboration. The event held in Karachi had talks, debates, performances, gigs, a marketplace, events for young people, speed-mentoring, workshops, and networking opportunities. The festival set a precedent by going green and limiting plastic consumption and its carbon footprint.

Various conversations were held around women empowerment and sustainable development, climate change awareness, role of girl child in environmental activism, as well as women in sports, development, crafts, and business.
