On October 31st, 2025, the LUMS Women in Computing (LWIC) Society, under its Ambassador Program, organized a visit to the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) to give high school female students firsthand exposure to STEM and Computer Science facilities at LUMS. The initiative aimed to inspire young women to explore careers in science and technology by connecting them with LUMS faculty and providing them an opportunity to experience university-level research environments.

As part of their visit to SBASSE, the students toured the Centre for Water Informatics and Technology (WIT)’s Production Laboratory. The visit was facilitated by WIT’s team, where Mr. Ali Akbar Abbas, Business Development Manager, and Mr. Farhan Ammar Ahmed, Team Lead, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Centre’s research domains, innovative technologies, and ongoing field deployments.

Following the presentation, an engaging question-and-answer session was held, during which the WIT team addressed the students’ queries about WIT’s research projects, technological innovations, and their real-world applications.

This visit was particularly significant as it provided young female students with valuable exposure to the practical side of scientific research and technology development.
