Nexus Summit 2024

Harmonizing Energy, Water and Agriculture Systems for a Low Emissions Future

The Centre for Water Informatics and Technology at LUMS is organizing a stakeholder workshop "Nexus Summit: Harmonizing Energy, Water, and Agriculture Systems for a Low Emissions Future", from March 7, 2024 to March 8, 2024 at LUMS. The workshop is being organized at a critical junction in Pakistan's national discourse in the climate change arena. The challenges posed by climate change to achieving a sustainable low-emission future call for a new generation of scientific modeling frameworks to support the formulation of post-2030 mid-century mitigation strategies. This workshop will engage academics, researchers, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders across Pakistan to enhance national-level modeling capacity. The workshop's scope includes integrated multi-sectoral modeling frameworks, scenario building, and effective engagement of stakeholders in the model development and output analysis. The key objectives of this workshop are:

  • Discussing model development, scenario-building, and output analysis of integrated assessment frameworks to develop an understanding of effective modeling processes and their implications for policy formulation.
  • Engage policymakers and stakeholders to effectively incorporate relevant policies or national priorities in the developed scenarios.
  • Enhance understanding of the use of models in assisting policymakers to formulate science-driven policy.
